Tree Order: Fagales – part I

The Natural History Book, I mentioned in the pinales post, says about the Fagales:

Some of the world’s best-known trees belong to this order. Fagales contains the beech genus, Fagus, the Betulaceae or birch family, ant the Juglandaceae or walnut family, as well as five other families. These trees dominate the woodlands in which they grow. They have simple leaves and small, unisexual flowers (either male or female) that are pollinated by wind.

Both following orders belong to the birch family (Betulaceae)

Order of the Fagales – genus Betula

Birches are followed by

Order of the Fagales – genus Corylus
